Excess bubbling can sometimes lead to spitting, which we cover in Why Is My Vape Spitting
If your vape is making bubbling, gurgling or slurping noises every time you take a puff, you're not alone. It’s one of the most common issues vapers experience, and while it’s usually not dangerous, it can be annoying and ruin the experience.
In this guide, we’ll explain exactly why your vape might be bubbling, how to stop it, and when it’s a sign your device or pod needs replacing.
Bubbling usually happens when too much e-liquid gets into the airflow path or the coil is over-saturated. It’s often the result of how the device is used or how the pod is filled, but sometimes it's just poor coil design.
Here are the most common causes:
1. Overfilled pods or tanks
If you fill a pod or tank too much, the excess liquid can flood the coil or leak into the airflow system. This causes a bubbling or slurping sound when you inhale.
2. Drawing too hard
Inhale too forcefully and you could pull extra liquid into the coil faster than it can vaporise. This leads to bubbling, spitback and sometimes even leaking.
3. Faulty or worn-out coils
Old coils tend to soak unevenly and may not heat properly. This allows liquid to pool in the coil chamber, which then bubbles when you vape.
4. Thin e-liquid
Some e-liquids are thinner than others. High-PG blends or warm environments can thin the juice even more, making it easier to flood the coil and cause bubbling.
5. Condensation in the mouthpiece
Over time, vapour condenses inside the mouthpiece and drips back down. If you hear bubbling but your pod isn’t overfilled, this could be the cause.
Not usually. Bubbling is more of an annoyance than a hazard. But if bubbling leads to spitback, where hot liquid enters your mouth, that can be unpleasant and may cause minor burns or irritation.
If you also notice leaking, burnt smells or inconsistent flavour, it could mean the coil is damaged or the pod is faulty. In that case, it’s best to replace it as soon as possible.
Here are a few practical tips to reduce or stop bubbling:
Use smooth, gentle puffs
Drawing slowly allows the coil to heat the e-liquid evenly without flooding it.
Avoid overfilling
Leave a small air gap when refilling your pod or tank to prevent pressure build-up.
Clean your mouthpiece
Remove the pod or tank and blow gently through the mouthpiece to clear any condensation or pooled liquid.
Change the coil or pod
If bubbling persists and the pod is more than a week old, swap it. Worn-out pods often flood even if used properly.
Store your vape upright
Laying it on its side can cause liquid to leak or gather in the wrong areas. Keeping it upright helps prevent this.
If your device bubbles constantly, leaks often or gives you weak vapour and poor flavour, it might be time to try a newer, more reliable setup.
Our 6000 puff vape range includes long-lasting, UK-compliant vapes with leak-resistant pod designs and advanced mesh coil technology. They’re built to reduce flooding, bubbling and spitback, giving you a smoother, cleaner vaping experience with none of the usual hassle.

A bubbling vape can be irritating, but it’s often easy to fix. Take a few minutes to check your pod, clean the mouthpiece and adjust your inhale. If you’re still having problems, switching to a better-built device might be the answer.
