How to Quit Smoking Tips
Entering the realm of vaping for the first time can often feel like navigating through uncharted territory. This experience can be particularly daunting whether you're browsing through an array of options online or stepping foot into a vape shop for the first time. It's akin to traversing a minefield with a blindfold on, where every step could lead to confusion or overwhelm due to the sheer variety of products, terminologies, and the vast amount of information to digest.
This initial foray into vaping is not just about making a purchase; it's about embarking on a journey through a complex and multifaceted landscape, where understanding the nuances of devices, e-liquids, nicotine strengths, and customization options become paramount. For newcomers, this experience demands patience and a willingness to learn, as they sift through the myriad of choices to find what best suits their preferences and needs.
That is why we have compiled a list of our biggest tips and tricks to help people who are struggling to make the switch and those who are trying out a vape for the first time.
Tip No.1: Choosing the Right Device
One of the biggest mistakes that a lot of people make when getting their first vape is not taking the time to understand the options available. So taking the time to shop around and get a feel for what vape would suit your needs is very important.
We often recommend getting a pod system, as they are one of the simplest ways to vape. Devices, such as the Xros Mini, use a coil held within a replaceable pod. With devices like these there is no need to take the whole top of the vape apart, eliminating unnecessary confusion and overly complicated coil changing routines.
You simply throw the top away and replace it with a new one.
If you feel that you want a larger kit, like a vape mod, you can always start on one. With larger batteries, and more room for upgrades in the future, they can be quite inviting for people wanting to dive deeper into the world of vaping.
But the same advice applies; keep it simple, the main goal is to switch from smoking to vaping. Devices like the Innokin Adept Zlide, with simple to use preset wattage controls, or the Innokin GOZEE with finer wattage adjustment, are two we can always recommend for a more in depth first time vaping experience.
Tip No.2: Nicotine Strength
Other than picking the best starter kit for you, understanding how much nicotine you need to start with is also very important.
If you begin vaping with too much nicotine it can make you feel sick, light headed and generally unwell. This is bad, as having a negative first experience turns a lot of people away from continuing to use a vape.
Too little and you’ll find it’s not quite hitting the spot, leading you to be tempted back to smoking or feeling like you are vaping 24/7.
Starting out, it is better to err on the side of caution, so going for a slightly lower strength can be beneficial, it might mean that in your first few weeks you’re making a few more trips to the vape shop or ordering more online, but once you find a strength that works it becomes a lot simpler.
Tip No.3: Finding Your Flavour
Discovering your ideal e-liquid flavour can initially seem like a daunting quest. Some may strike gold immediately, finding a flavour that resonates with their palate on the first try, while others might experiment with three or four, or even more, before uncovering the one that truly satisfies. The most valuable piece of advice for newcomers embarking on this flavourful journey is to embrace variety.
Variety is not just a suggestion; it's the cornerstone of finding your vaping bliss.
When you're just starting out, a good strategy is to reflect on your personal taste preferences outside of vaping. Consider the beverages, fruits, menthol, and dessert flavours that you find appealing in your everyday life. This introspection can serve as a reliable compass. By aligning your existing flavour preferences with the available e-liquid options, you're likely to find a vaping experience that's not just satisfactory, but deeply enjoyable. This approach not only simplifies the selection process but also makes it more exciting, turning the search for the perfect vape juice into a fun exploration of tastes and aromas that mirror your favourite indulgences.
Tip No.4: Embracing the Change
The most successful people when it come to making the switch are those who embrace it, think of it in a way that appeals to you, whether it’s saving money, health benefits over smoking or like me the technical aspect. As a self certified nerd I find interest in how vapes work, their history and the psychology behind their effectiveness, all of this keeps me using them and more importantly enjoying it.
Being selfish is not often a very good idea, but in this case it is. Make this about you, it is a decision that you yourself have to make, and whatever reason you need to justify it, use it.
Tip No.5: Starting a New Habit
After you get your first vape, we recommend that you start immediately. Postponing the switch can make it feel like more of an ordeal. When in reality all you are doing is replacing one part of a daily habit with an alternative.
Often people will smoke and vape at first, this is okay, some people find that the first time they use a vape they never touch tobacco again, and others find that it takes them months to fully switch over. The biggest tip we can give when it comes to “dual-use” (using tobacco and a vape) is that you should try to replace habitual cigarettes first, for example these are the ones that you have first thing in the morning, just after a meal, just before bed. Basically any cigarettes you have as a part of your daily routine. Having the odd random cigarette is fine, and what we see a lot is that these random cigarettes become less and less frequent over time.
